8 Hours of Cutting Vinyl!
Re: 8 Hours of Cutting Vinyl!
The one picture of Pepe is one of my pieces of animation art. I only cut the vinyl above it.

You do a great job. I have used a lot of your tutorials to help me. I would like to know if you have a good place that you get vinyl from since you do a lot of cutting it. Any help you can give me would be so appreciated. Thanks again for all your knowledge.

I buy my Vinyl from Sign Warehouse. I use Oracal 631 for indoors and I use Oracal 651 for my outdoor cuts for windows. If you have any questions, call and ask for Amanda. She was very helpful.

For transferring my cuts, I use clear conact paper. If your careful and save it, you can get two or three transfers from each piece. I just save the backing and stick it back together.

Re: 8 Hours of Cutting Vinyl!
So when you cut the vinyl with 3/3 settings you still have the backing after weeding? I have been using the same vinly and higher settings and it cuts all the way through. I wondered how everyone was getting it to not cut the backing paper...??? Or is it 3/2? I have a flea market booth and I was going to cut words for wall art but wanted to gleen from your expert opinion before wasting a lot of vinyl....thanks!
Re: 8 Hours of Cutting Vinyl!
I started off with my cutter at 3 and my pressure at 3. My cuts were rough, meaning the vinyl was wrinkling ever so slightly around some of my cut edges. When I changed my cutter depth to 2, my edges cleaned up very nicely. Also, I cut some more on Tuesday and by accident I found out that how your vinyl is laid out on your mat also makes a difference. It's almost like the vinyl has a grain and when I cut it one way, it cut much better than when I turned the vinyl 90º on the mat and then cut. I hope this helps.

Mixing pleasure with business never sounded so good! I also felt tired and overwhelmed from reading all the things you did. Wow! Looks like you are going to be busy every now and then.
Thanks for sharing the cut outs you did for your home. They're neat! I would also like to see a picture of the one you did for the shop.... Yeap! I'm so nosy.
Way to go!

Yippee! UPS just brought my vinyl. I will be able to finish the window cuts that I have left to do and start working on the sign this weekend. It's going to be a busy weekend.

All I can say, I wish I was a fly on your wall; or better yet, a friend helping and apprenticing with you all day!
