Yes, if you have something like the deer that is really just a bunch of little lines you probably will be better off using the bezier tool. If you like the video tuts, try Dan99's here. http://dan99.blogspot.com/2008/11/video ... tools.html

This is the bezier tool. Using it is like a cross between hand tracing and playing dot-to-dot. Just go along the edge clicking at corners and other significant points along the way. For cutting, your shapes have to be closed. So you have to end the curve where you started it. That's all there is to it. It takes a lot of patience, of course.

Here's a video that shows tracing with the Bezier tool. He is not making closed shapes, but you can get the idea nonetheless.
