Second, I was thinking about all of my longing for scale by percent, and I figured out that I need something else to make it truly work the way I want it to. Right now when I am cutting layered SVG files I pretty much save all of the pieces in one SVG and cut them together--so that I can scale them together and they will still work when I piece them. I was wanting scale by percent so that I could save the different pieces in different files and cut them separately, but still have them sized correctly. That would allow me to make larger cuts from SVG files because the largest piece could take up the whole cutting space on the mat, and I wouldn't have to try to "eyeball it" as to how to size the other pieces to match.
I realized there is one snag though. Whatever size is set in the "default size" field in the library dialog is the size that my SVG will be when I import it. So if I am cutting Pooh Bear and he has a black base, various yellow body pieces, and a small red shirt piece, all saved separately, I can't just open each one and set it to 500% or whatever and have them cut to match. The reason is that they will all import at whatever size I have set, and the black piece SVG is going to be much bigger than the red shirt piece which is small. When I import them they will all import to the same height. Is this making any sense?
So the way to get around that would be to have a checkbox in the Import SVG dialog box that is an option for "open at original size" or something like that. Then the small red shirt will open in proportion to how the black base piece will open. I can then use the great scale by % option (that I pray is coming) to size them all proportionately.
I hope that made some sense.
