Family Word Book (1st for me)

Post by jsnstarprncss »

I am SO mad I spent $30 on a deep cut blade and housing unit and it didn't work!! I ended up putting in my regular blade and cutting the backs to pads of paper packs on 6. If anyone has some insight or topic links on what may be the problem with my deep blade please let me know. It made a HORRIBLE clicking noise and I totally freaked out--

Anyway, on to my word book. I did this for my mom and I've gotta tell you I will probably spend the $6 at Hobby Lobby and buy the precut ones if I can't get my blade to work...I'm not thrilled with it, but it's good enough :)

The "OUR" letters I did on the E and other than the pictures the rest of the stuff was cut on the E too. (oh except for the jewels obviously!) I could only post 3 pics so I picked 3 of my faves.

LOVELY!! Im sure the family are going to really treasure it.
Deep Cut Blade and housing......waste of money in my opinion, never got it to cut very successfully yet and it did make a noise.

I use 60 degree blade in normal housing purchased from ebay. Cuts fine for cereal card pressure 6 speed medium blade 5 or 6

I have not heard of this "60 degree" blade...interesting...

I used a little thicker than cereal box, but I just used the regular blade and housing unit on 6. I wonder why there's so many probs with the deep one--

Thanks for the compliment!

Really nice!! I read online that the deep blade was a waste. On this site.. the lady has a video with tips to cut chipboard with the regular blade and housing. http://www.scrappingtable.com/scalvideos.html

I love your word book! I like how you have the flourishes and the way the papers go together.. How did you glue your paper down?

I can't get motivated to finish mine... It's supposed to be a valentines gift for my boyfriend but for some reason I am lacking creativity and energy to start it.. let a lone finish it...

Thanks CraftyKylee :) I'll have to watch it next week!

Stargazer, Thanks! I am VERY particular about the stuff I use--I'm OCD, not afraid to admit it :)

Steps I did:
*Cut the letters first out of "chip"board.
*Using the paper I bought, I cut one with pattern facing up and the other pattern facing down (for back of letter).
*Punched holes with my Big Bite in the "chip"board letters (and it cut through ALL the letters at the same time)
*Glued front paper on, punched the hole, then glued the back paper on, punched the hole again.

I had the same problem getting motivated, but I have all 10 seasons of Friends, I pop that in my computer in my room and let it go in the background...I don't know WHY, but it motivates me. Some people turn off the TV and listen to music...whatever floats your imagination boat. You can do it!

If anyone wants the flourishes, I'll upload them, but I know I got them from the forum and from Freeby Friday.

did you just use regular glue?

I usually have the tv on and music playing... and i'm usually chatting to someone or on message boards... I am a perfectionist as well... I am WAY over the top about it... I can't start my projects until I have them completely planned out in my head... It gets to be annoying after awhile...

And also what is Freebie Friday? Are all of your flourishes from the cricut? some looked stamped...

I use the glue pens from Zig. I have the huge one--it's a wet glue, but a little goes a LONG way. They're $7 here at Michael's but I use my 40% off coupons to go buy one even if I'm not out. If you have a tape runner or Zyron, I would totally use that--I wish at this moment I had the bigger one though because my stuff doesn't fit through the 2" or the 4".

http://www.myscrapchick.com/ Sign up for the free newsletter and every Friday you get an email with an SVG file. Last week it was little tags, SO cute!! It looks like you have to go through motions of "buying" but it is free!! If you PM me your email addy I'll send you the files I got.

I did do all flourishes on the circut and then glued them on. I love that they look that way!

I'm like you too, I have to have everything planned in my head. This one I looked online for a ton of inspiration and then after 3 weeks I sat down and did it.

Hi,
I'm really interested in all the flourishes you used, if you would be willing to share :)

Thank you & what a great book!!!

{Now have some trepidation unfortunately because I just purchased the deep cut blade, haven't got it yet & was so excited about being able to cut chipboard--it'll suck if it doesn't work for me! :( }
