I have heard that you could stamp an image, scan it, and save it as a jpeg file which you could import into Inkscape and save as a SVG file. I am playing around with it and although I can do what I just described, I can't get SCAL to pick it up to cut. When I click on preview, I just get a gray image rather than red lines where it would cut. Has anyone tried to do this and if you have can you share what you did?
I've seen a tutorial on converting jpeg to svg on mycraftylife.com, but I don't use Paint Shop Pro and i am not getting the same results. Why do I need Paint Shop Pro? Does anyone know what I am talking about?

Re: cutting stamped images
Hi, I use Adobe PhotoShop Elements and I do it all of the time with both jpg and png files. I did a tutorial on my blog that might help you. there are two of them that you will need.
Trace Bitmap: http://papasuecreative.blogspot.com/sea ... e%20Bitmap
and BreakApart: http://papasuecreative.blogspot.com/sea ... ng%20Apart depending on your image.
This does not necessarily work if you are using a DINGBAT tho.
Let me know if you need more help.

Re: cutting stamped images
You don't need Paintshop Pro. Unless you have a really good image with good contrast, it helps to tweek the image to get a better trace. I haven't tried Dan's technique yet. I have always used brightness/contrast to get a better image.
If you post your svg file someone will help you with it, though a common problem is using object/group rather than the options in the path menu.

Re: cutting stamped images
One more tip...If your stamp has an image on the block, then you will get a better scan from that than you will from a stamped image on paper.
Re: cutting stamped images
Thank you for your responses. I am going to try your suggestions. I'm glad I don't need Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop because I don't have either of them. I'll try "tweeking" in the photo editing software that I already use. I'll let you know how it works for me. Thanks again for your help!

Thank you again for helping me out. I tried your suggestions and it worked perfectly. My stamps have a whole new mission!!! This program is so cool!!! Now if I can just keep it from freezing up, I'll be doing great. And, I think turning off my virus software helps with that! Thank you again!!!
