Common Courtesy

Post by kelsie94 »

Okay first off, I'm not trying to "start anything" so please don't bash me. I'm just wondering whatever happened to common courtesy?

There are many people on this forum who spend their own precious time creating files and then uploading them to share. Time after time I see that loads of people have downloaded those files but maybe only one or two people have actually said "thank you" to the person submitting!

Come on everyone. This is so sad!........if you can spare a few minutes to download, please take the time to say thank you! The person uploading the file would appreciate it and our mother's would be so proud ;)

doesn't bother me.

I don't see the point of a bunch of insignificant follow up "thank you" posts.

if you'd like to thank someone, you could pm them--doesn't need to be public.

also, a majority of the files posted do not contain images of the files & the files must be downloaded to view them. I don't think someone would think to thank someone for posting a file they didn't like or won't use, lol.

in our house, if thanks or apologies have to be asked for, they have no meaning.

your heart is in the right place, but it doesn't bother me if no one replies to the files I share--I'd rather see the files posts kept tidy.

I tend to agree w/ Jancy...although this is a touchy subject. Cluttering up the MB's w/ thank you after thank you could really make for some loooong files. I do give thanks but not always. Perhaps some would be offended by that. I'm sorry if they are. I bet a lot of us use the "View new posts" link at the top to catch up on "new" info. If everyone were to Thank everyone for every download- that link would basically become useless.

I'm with you on this one kelsie - if someone gives me something, I say thank you, it's just what polite people do. I guess it's the way I was raised (and I am waaaay old! LOL)

Just clogs things up
extra posts for no reason
Posting is voluntary
If you don't want to post and share then don't
the fact that someone downloads your work is a compliment in itself

I like this board because it doesn't have repeated posts that don't provide information. It is possible that thank you's are being done through a PM.

If I download someone's file I always say thank you because it is the polite and right thing to do.

I don't consider a Thank You as "Clutter." Many people on the Cricut site have stopped sharing files BECAUSE people fail to say thank you.

I agree with saying Thank you.

I agree that if you download you say thank you. It is more than appreciation for the file you're going to use, it is an acknowledgement of the work/talent that went into the post.

I for one appreciate kind words and to know that others like what I do or say.

It also "bumps" the file up. When someone posts a reply the file it moves up the chain again. With so many posts "great" pieces move down quickly and are then lost if no one acknowledges it.

My 5 cents worth.

That's why we have the SVG category folders - Animals, Holidays, Baby, etc., etc. The categories are there to help organize files so that they are easier to find down the road. There is also a Search function in these forums that can help you retrieve files. If a good description is in the subject and/or descriptive words about a file are entered in the message body, then a file is much easier to find later. "Cute File" is a poor subject, while "Child on Swing" is a much better subject and can help us find the file in the future.

If I just post something, I have no problem if no one says thank you.

But if someone post that they are looking for a particular file and after it is posted, they don't acknowledge that they could use the file or even a thank you, well, I won't lie, that irks me.
