So far I've downloaded a few svg files from SVGCuts and have no problem with cutting them out. Now I've downloaded a SVG file from another source and I'm not exactly sure how to cut it because of the different layers/colors in the image. Does that make sense? When I import the SVG file it comes up all grouped together. I've gone through the process of ungrouping but then it leaves me with about 8 different pieces. So do I just separate the pieces and cut them individually in the colors that I want?
I'd appreciate any direction I can get...maybe someone can lead me to a video tutorial on how to correctly do this.
I'm going to try to attache the svg file that I'm working with.
Saw your post on Facebook too, but glad you came here so you could post the file. The creator of the file made multiple layers to get the color and shaded look. In this particular file, if you go to Window on the menu bar and open you layers panel, you will see all of the pieces. I am putting the file back up with you and I renamed it. I closed the "eye" on the layers that you really don't need to cut your pieces and it should simplify things for you. If you want different colors, for the skull and crossbone you would need to ungroup them as they are grouped together.
Thank you so much for you help Sandy...I really do appreciate it.
However I'm now switching gears a little. You see a friend asked me to help with invitations and decorations for her upcoming baby shower and believe it or not her and her husband have decided to use a skull and crossbones as their theme. Kind of a strange theme in my opinion but none the less what they have requested. At any rate I have found an image that I like better and looks 'cute' so now I'm trying to figure out how to make it into an svg. I've actually found a few different images so which ever one I can work with easier is what I'm looking for. I've downloaded Inkscape but am having a hard time figuring out exactly how to to the trace...It seems to me it keeps coming up with a lot of the same shape but only in different colors after I ungroup it. Normally I would take the time to figure it all out and look up tutorials and such but I'm kind of in a time crunch and really want to get to work on everything. After I'm done with this project you can bet I will be sitting down and learning how to use Inkscape and figure everything out.
Anyway...here are the images I have found so far...any input and help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I can do these for you as svg files just working with the files you posted. I'm not sure where they came from or if they are copyright protected so I don't want to share the files here.
If you PM me your email address I'll send you the first one...I can do the others too.
