Resizing Images Solution

Post by wreed06 »

I thought I'd share a solution (a think!) to a problem I've had with resizing SVG files once imported into SCAL. When I import an SVG file into SCAL, it is usually icon sized (small). To make it bigger, I just drag it to however big I want, then cut. Well, sometimes that cut wouldn't be right - a corner has a notch, a line would not be cut, some of the lines would be thinner than they were supposed to be. Well, I found a solution for that, so I think.

SVG files have dimensions they like, they don't like to be put at to whatever you want, necessarily. I was working on cutting the buffalo SVG file and made it exactly 4" wide in SCAL, and when it cut, a couple of the cut lines were messed up. So, I brought it up in Inkscape and made the measurement be inches, and entered 4 as the width. Inkscape changed my 4 to 4.007 and since I had the lock proportions on, it made the height 4.176. I went back to SCAL and manually entered those amounts in the width and height in the Properties window. I had to uncheck the Keep Proportions checkbox so that I could get the exact measurements that Inkscape liked. It cut perfectly!

Great TIP! I'll pay more attention next time I do one.

Thanx
