I just read that scal isn't supposed to work that well with Vista and you are supposed to run in XP mode if you have Vista. First of all is this true? Thanks for your responses. I read further messages on this after I posted. Glad it's not just me. I'll need to plan for more time if I want shadows or just use a chunkier font. I also read using a techinique in inkscape might work. I'll have to try it out.

How/can you control speed from within scal. Does machine override? Whenever I cut from SCAL blade returns to upper corner, even if I have manually moved it to a different spot on the mat, anyway to avoid this?
